Time to CELEBRATE the next step!

Planning for Dual Enrollment for the 25-26 school year? See the attached flier for important information of how to enroll!

INFORMED + ENGAGED: Beaverton Schools continues its I+E Community Forum this week with a focus on what we're calling...The Big Picture. (But don't worry - as usual, we'll talk about other topics as well, and leave plenty of time for Q & A.) Please be sure to attend; every month, people are learning new things they didn't know about the district. That tells us this series is a great idea and that it's working. All interested parties are welcome and we will have childcare available so parents may focus on the meeting. Join us Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the BJSHS Media Center, and please let us know you're attending by scanning the code or visiting https://bit.ly/4hlgQ7G. You can also use the form to offer topics, concerns or questions. #SuccessStartsByShowingUp

THE SOUNDS OF SPRING: Clear your schedule for the evening of April 28 and join us for the BJSHS Spring Concert, set for 7 p.m. that night in the BJSHS gym. The show will feature selections from both the middle school and high school bands. Admission is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted. #GoBeavers #SpringMusic

UNDER PRESSURE: Students in Mrs.Sprague's 9th grade science classes have been learning about the cardiovascular system. Today they put on their white coats and practiced taking pulses and blood pressure readings. They learned about the importance of good cardiovascular health and the dangers of using highly caffeinated drinks.

BETTER LATE...: Spring Break pushed it back a bit, but there’s no way we’re missing the chance to honor the BJSHS Students of the Month for March. The are, l to r, Emily Colvin, Conner Wolfe, Kami Jacques, Elan Aho, Mackenzie Knake, Talise Wohlschlegel, Eli Roe, Aaliyah Holmes, Riley Cross, Anicia Klein, Sayde Woodruff and Sophie Milks. Not pictured: Ava Nickel, Stormy Ward, Shaun McWilliams and Anna Mannigel.

Mrs.Sprague's LINKS mentoring class had a guest speaker today to discuss autism awareness and visual supports. Students have been making their own visual support to use for themselves. Next, they will find ways to help their junior high students use visuals in class and social situations. We can all benefit from a visual now and then, and we appreciate Mrs. Oard taking time to come in and share her experiences and expertise with autism and visual support!

PREPARE TO SUCCEED: With this week comes state-mandated testing season at BJSHS. Please do everything possible to make sure your students attend school for these important events: SAT (11th Grade) is Wednesday, April 9; ACT WorkKeys (11th Grade) is Thursday, April 10; PSAT (8th Grade) is Monday, April 14; PSAT (9th Grade) is Tuesday, April 15; and PSAT (10th Grade) is Wednesday, April 16. Because these tests are required by the state, students who miss any of these dates will be required to make them up in the following weeks. On testing days, see the tip sheet below to help ensure your students are bright-eyed and ready to do their best, and #GoBeavers.

CTE-SSENTIAL INFORMATION: When you vote on May 6 in consideration of the CTE millage renewal request, keep in mind that more than 40 percent of Beaverton juniors and seniors attend CTE right now. That's in addition to the 500-plus students who have gained valuable skilled trades training since voters originally approved the millage in 2016. Also remember: It's a RENEWAL - a chance to keep things going strong at no additional cost to taxpayers. Please vote May 6, and if you believe in the great things CTE is doing for our students, our employers and our community, please speak up and spread the word. #CTEitsWorking #PleaseVoteMay6

Beaverton Schools Update: All PM CTE programs have been cancelled for the Beaverton Jr./Sr. High School.

BJSHS Announcements: April 1, 2025

CTE-SSENTIAL INFORMATION: On May 6, voters will be asked to consider renewing the Career & Technical Education millage they originally approved in 2016. Because it's a renewal, passing the request won't increase your taxes - not one bit. That's just one of the crucial facts you need to know before you vote. Here's another: Since that millage was passed, 509 Beaverton students have been taught essential career training in the program. Visit https://tinyurl.com/mu575k5m for CTE facts, figures, FAQs and student success stories. Read Beaverton Superintendent Michael Hugan's letter to the community at https://tinyurl.com/755jb8t9. And please vote May 6. #CTEitsWorking #GoBeavers

FREE PRE-K! ENROLL TODAY! If you've got a youngster who turns four years old before Dec. 2, now's the time to sign up for FREE pre-kindergarten at Beaverton Elementary. The benefits are numerous: BES offers your child a safe, caring environment in the same building with the same friends, teachers and principals that your child will know and love throughout elementary school; instruction five days a week, all day; full transportation to and from home; the chance to learn about taking turns, sharing and getting along; and an early jump on the full kindergarten experience and expectations. Scan the code or head over to ClareGladwinPreschool.org to sign up. #BeavertonAlways

10th Grade Biology Students at Beaverton High School have learned the art of sauerkraut making (and patience) during their unit on cellular energy. We learned a lot about bacteria and other fermented foods that are good to eat and good for you too! After several weeks of waiting, they were able to taste the fruits of their labor and enjoy a sausage and sauerkraut treat! Many students tried it for the first time and really liked it! Now, they all know how easy it is to make at home! Way to put biology to work, students!

HUMBLE PI: We can't get too far past March 14 without observing a moment of respect for the junior high teachers who allowed students to smush (and in some cases, smash) tins of whipped topping in their faces on Friday, all in the name of Pi Day. The photos tell the story, and one thing's for sure: 3.14 was never nearly this much fun when we were kids. #PiDay #GoBeavers

Spring has sprung and busy days are ahead! It's a great day in the weight room when every bench is filled! Boys and girls grades 6-12 are welcome to workout, lift and get healthy after school M-Th #gobeavers
