Good afternoon, We have a couple of busy weeks hosting Boys and Girls Basketball Districts. The Boys play Monday night at 7pm vs Farwell. Tickets can be purchased for $7 online with GoFan. They can also be purchased with credit card at the door. This is a no cash ticketing event per MHSAA. Passes - League passes, coaches' passes, Beaverton lifetime passes and Beaverton Athletic passes etc... are not to be honored at any tournament per MHSAA. Thank you Mark Grove Athletic Director

JUST RIGHT: First-graders at BES got a fun, hands-on look at basic healthcare today courtesy of CTE's Health Occupations students, several of whom are Beaverton's own. In the Teddy Bear Clinic, youngsters received a stuffed animal and walked through the process of addressing the bears' health challenges with the Health Occs students - everything from infant care to blood pressure. The clinics are designed to train CTE students to deal with patients of all types and illnesses, and to help young kids learn about common medical equipment and feel more comfortable around healthcare settings. #CTEitsWorking

SADDLE UP: Kindergarten Roundup at Beaverton Elementary is coming. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, March 4 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at BES. Get all the info you need to enroll your future Kindergarten, Young 5 or Preschool student. (Potential preschoolers must be four years old by Sept. 1. Potential kindergarteners must be at least five years old on Sept. 1; however, children who turn five between Sept. 1 and Dec. 1 can enroll at the discretion of their parent or legal guardian.) Please help spread the word, and we'll see you on March 4. #RoundUp

THE BIG BOARD: If you missed Hall of Fame Night last week, you probably also missed the unveiling of our new-and-improved Beaverton Schools Wall of Honor. This massive interactive touch-screen near the gym allows users instant access to the bio of every member of the Athletic Hall of Fame and Distinguished Alumni. If you can't make it to BJSHS to see it in person, you can also check it out at https://bit.ly/42Z4BJW. It's well worth a look. #BeavertonAlways

SHOWING UP: Beaverton Schools invites you to join us for the next round of true community dialogue at the I+E community forum series, set for Thursday, Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the BJSHS Media Center. Though the topic of the evening will be student survey data, we'll also share some other important info and leave plenty of time for Q & A. We will also have childcare available so parents may focus on the meeting. Please let us know you're attending by scanning the code or visiting bit.ly/4hlgQ7G. ON TO THE FINALS: In case you missed it, BJSHS student-athletes Eli Roe and Eric Larson punched their tickets to the MHSAA State Wrestling Finals this past weekend. Roe took second in his weight class at the regionals in St. Louis, while Larson brought home fourth place. Both performances were good enough to earn the trip to Ford Field in two weeks. Great job, gentlemen, and #GoBeavers

We will be playing our home boys basketball game tonight vs Shepherd. It is our Hall of Fame night with games starting at 4:30pm.
Thank you
Mark Grove

We are currently working with Shepherd administration about playing our scheduled boys basketball game tonight. The school districts will have a decision around noon today.
Thank you
Mark Grove

Again, tomorrow, Thursday, February 13th, Beaverton Schools will be closed due to inclement weather. Have a good evening, and if you do need to drive, please be careful!

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN: One of our favorite traditions at BJSHS is revealing the Top Ten graduates. This year, we enlisted the help of some special friends to unveil their names. Thanks to them, and congratulations to the Class of '25. See the video at bit.ly/4jRTubN. #BeavertonAlways

BETTER THAN EMPLOYEE OF THE WEEK: It's Student of the Month time again at BES. January's lineup of distinguished standouts are, l to r, Jayden Velez, Chloe Bennett, Kaida Hannahs, Hazel Rivera-Smith, Conner Sheehan, Brynlee McDonald, Luke Kassabian and Penelope Grant. Congrats and #GoBeavers.

THE STARS ALIGN: It's a new month, so that must mean it's time to pay tribute to the outstanding students from last month. Your BJSHS Students of the Month for January are, l to r: Ariane Lokaj, Ben Zdrojewski, Cacey Walker, Christian Burgess, Mason Berry, Eric Larson, Blaire Orton, Braeden Hargrove, Olivia Somers and Sean Barta. Missing from photo: Micheal Maloney and Malachi Fassett. Congrats and #GoBeavers.

THAT'S A LOTTA COPS: You may have noticed quite a few police vehicles parked at BJSHS this afternoon; it was for a great reason. BJSHS was the site for a regional meeting of all the School Resource Officers from schools in Gladwin and Clare Counties. Officers took the opportunity to discuss critical issues in school safety and security, and Beaverton was happy to play host. #SafeandSecure

WHERE THE COURT AND THE CLASSROOM COLLIDE: Calling all Beaverton teachers, past and present, from fresh-faced newbies to sage retirees. Join us Tuesday at the boys basketball games versus Meridian for Teacher Appreciation Night. You'll be greeted at the ticket table with free admission and a small token of gratitude, recognized at halftime of the JV game and invited to join the Pom squad in the Locomotion between games. Solid fun on a winter's night. #GoBeavers

INDUCTED: Join us in welcoming the newest members of the club at Beaverton Schools Athletic Hall of Fame Night, Thursday, Feb. 13 at BJSHS. The ceremony will take place between the boys basketball games vs. Shepherd at approximately 7 p.m. This year's honorees are early 21st century standouts Ryan Longstreth, Peter Maxwell and Jake Oard. Congrats and #GoBeavers.

BAD NEWS/GOOD NEWS: Maybe you missed our first I+E Community Forum Thursday night, which was very well-attended and offered a great exchange of information and ideas among folks who love our kids and our school. But that's okay. Through the wonders of video recording, you can catch it at bit.ly/4aNESWU; we guarantee you'll learn something new about our school district. #SpeakUpTakePart #Informed+Engaged

CAN YOU DIG IT? C'mon out and support the girls basketball teams against Gladwin Wednesday night, and if you're able, bring some canned goods to help the BHS Student Government in its Canned Food Drive. Fill the student section, have some fun and help somebody - and students in grades 6-12 who donate at least three items will get in for free. The JV game starts at 6 p.m. #GoBeavers

BEAVERTON BENEATH THE SURFACE: The BJSHS Broadcast Club drops the first episode of its all-new chat show with an insightful discussion with Math Teacher and newly-appointed U.S. Army Major Kossi Komlassan. Come for the geometry; stay for the compromising photo. Check it out here: bit.ly/40QBFT0

IT'S AN HONOR: Classroom achievement is on center stage as BJSHS presents its first semester academic honors for grades 6 through 12. Check out the lists below or head over to beavertonschools.net/honor-roll to see the rosters. Congrats, young learners, and #GoBeavers.
