A GUBERNATORIAL GREETING: It’s a blink-and-you'll-miss it kind of thing, but when BJSHS’s very own math teacher and U.S. Army Captain Kossi Komlassan was recently deployed to Latvia with the Michigan National Guard, he crossed paths with Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Komlassan was able to secure a message from Whitmer to this week’s graduates, which you can view at bit.ly/3BKYcTS. You can read more about Komlassan’s mission and the governor’s visit at bit.ly/3MMzvN1 and bit.ly/438QL4C.
TOMORROW'S LEADERS...TODAY: Before they close out the year, the BJSHS eighth grade elected its slate of officers for student council in high school. The class of 2027's leadership is Myah Hubble (president), Sayde Woodruff (vice-president), Charity Danielak (secretary) and Sophie Milks (treasurer), along with representatives Isabelle Dodman, Ben Zdrojewski and Trinity Danielak.
ENJOYING THE JEWEL OF THE GREAT LAKES: Our eighth-graders embarked on the annual visit to Mackinac Island Saturday. While the air was a bit chilly, the sun came out (eventually) and made for a nice day and a great getaway. #GoBeavers

THE YEAR-ENDER: Beaverton Schools' LINKS program, which pairs student mentors with younger students with autism or other disabilities, celebrated the end of its first year today with some exercise, some fun and some ice cream. Participants from all grade levels got together and played games, ran obstacle courses and genuinely enjoyed the connective moments they shared today and throughout the year. This program promises to be even bigger next fall as more mentors join the ranks, and the only word to describe its initial run this year is "success." #GoBeavers
