ON COMMON GROUND: Sometimes, people disagree. When you take more than a thousand students, teachers, administrators and staff and put them in the same place for nine months, familiarity will, at times, make for misunderstandings, disagreements and a need for conflict resolution. We’ve developed a set of protocols to help address these concerns while respecting the needs and proper channels of resolution for all involved. Full details at https://bit.ly/3KA77g1.

ITS YOUR TIME TO SHINE: M-Step testing, for grades 3-6, will take place from April 24th-May 5th. We will be holding a kick off assembly on the 24th for the students to talk about how it is their time to show us what they know. We want to pump them up for the test and get them excited. We will talk with the students about the importance of getting a good nights sleep, eating a good breakfast, and taking their time. We will also be offering incentives to students who have excellent attendance during that time frame. We are asking parents and the community to help boost this for us too. We are proud of our students and know that they are capable of great things. It really is their time to shine!

Time to Shine
HOLD YOUR HORSES: Excited about Spring Break? So are we. But students need to remember that it doesn't start until AFTER our half-day on Friday. If you start before then, you need to understand the impact it could have on everybody. At the top of the list: The state requires a set number of school days for our kids, and if a certain percentage of you don't show up, we're in real jeopardy of Friday's session not counting. That means we would have to make it up at the end of the year. Families, please make sure your student attends school tomorrow. #90PercentOfSuccessIsShowingUp #GoBeavers

SAFER EVERY DAY: It’s not always pleasant to ponder, but hoping for the best while preparing for the worst is the only way a responsible school district can operate. Today, Beaverton Schools took another important step toward attaining MI HEARTSafe School certification. A group of teachers and administrators have volunteered to comprise their respective school’s Medical Emergency Response Teams, and today’s drills called for a rapid response to a cardiac event. School MERT teams, along with School Resource Officers and Beaverton Fire Department and EMS personnel, walked through the proper protocols of recognizing a cardiac event, notifying 9-1-1, securing the school building and administering life-saving care until paramedics arrive. Groups in both schools scored well in their scenarios, and it’s a point of pride that not only the MERT squad but almost 40 percent of Beaverton school teachers and administrators are CPR and AED certified. We’ll postgame today’s exercises, make any necessary adjustments and work to get even better. #Striving #GoBeavers

PLAYING OUR SONG: The Beaverton High School Band performed - and performed very well - today at the District 9 MSBOA Band and Orchestra Festival at Lincoln Alcona High School. Their overall rating was a 2 with one judge scoring them at a 1. These students have put in an amazing amount of hark work and it showed today. Great job, everybody. #GoBeavers
