Results from tonight’s Gladwin County basketball triple header: JV boys lost 29-47, varsity girls lost a close game and varsity boys with an exciting win 49-45 over rival Gladwin. Thank you to all the fans for filling the gym and creating an electric environment! Boys basketball travels to Tawas on Wednesday and girls basketball travels to Breckenridge on Tuesday. GO RED!

Beaverton wrestling opened up conference matches tonight against Pinconning and Gladwin.  Beaverton defeated Pinconning with a score of 54-24 and lost to Gladwin 54-27.  Double winners on the night were Landen Terrell, Seth Onweller, Garrett Muma,  Will Warner and Justin Wood. The Beavers travel to Carson City Crystal on Saturday.

SMARTY PLANTS: Mr. Hitsman's science students had a special guest today in the form of 2015 Beaverton graduate Tabitha Faber, who's completing her Ph.D. in ethnobotany at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Faber spoke to our kids about her focused study of dysphania ambrosioides, also known as epazote or Mexican tea, a plant which has been used as an herb and a medicine, but has also been known to kill people. Through her studies, Faber is working to determine the different varieties of the plant and how they interact with Guatemalan culture. She also discussed her college experiences; the places around the globe those studies have taken her; how plants and cultures interact; what it's like to be a working scientist; and how we have an important relationship with wild plants. It was an impressive, informative visit and a great example of what happens when passion for learning and ambition collide. #BEASuccessStory #GoBeavers

Boys basketball beat Clare 48-37 at home tonight. Beavers host rival Gladwin for a triple header this Friday. JV boys at 4:30, varsity girls at 6:00 and varsity boys at 7:30. Varsity girls play in Clare tomorrow at 7:00 and wrestling begins JPC competition tomorrow in Gladwin at 6:00. GO RED!

SUPERSTARS: On your feet - it's time to meet and greet your BJSHS Students of the Month for December. BJSHS administration and staff congratulate these students who were selected by teachers for excellence in the classroom, leadership among their peers and an enthusiastic ambition that inspires others. The Lady Varsity Beavers basketball team lost to Shepherd tonight, 47 to 46.

The Beaverton Bowling Teams competed against Farwell in conference match ups on Wednesday. The girls won big over Farwell girls 25-5, setting them on top of the conference with a 3-0 record. Becca Claypool bowled a 206, Ellie Minkina with a 175, and Kaelyn Fisher 146. The boys squeaked out a close one to win over Farwell 16-14. Leading the Beavers were Alex Greer with a 157 & 153, while Andrew Cooper had a 154. This puts the boys in a tie for second in the conference with a 2- 1 record. Both teams will be competing this Saturday in the mid season singles tournament hosted at Beaverton Bowl at 9am and 1pm. GO RED!
